HISTORY TO AFRICALI
Quite remember growing up was interesting: full of love, joy, happiness, hard work, dedication, strides, and a family to always look up for. Family still remains the single unit that brings, bonds and unites Humanity to their humble beginnings.
My Father was a very hardworking, industrious, honest, truthful, humble, principled, confident and mannered person. He stood on a principle to cater and provide for his families in an honest and respectable earnings. Interestingly, can confidently credit him the entrepreneur derive in me especially towards fashion, designing and clothing. This great man, yes he indeed still remains the greatest person in my life and will ever be appreciated for the entrepreneurship derive he influenced in me.
Time and again, I keep asking and to finding deep within myself where the love and passion for art, fashion, designing and clothing sprung from in my life. Finally I had the answer. But it's a long journey back to a long time in a far distance place in Africa; Accra-Ghana, Africa.
A man in his teen, vibrant and exuberant youth who was known as hardworking, industrious, honest, full of integrity, trustworthy, friendly, principled but very graceful, and time mindful in his community called Nafiu (Benefits). The whole community and near vicinities admitted and welcome him in all their houses and engagements. He indeed was a gifted, talented, skilled, endowed and blessed natural tailor. It still amazed his generations how he did designed and sewed their clothing's. Due to the speed of his work which comes with excellence, class, quality, uniqueness, and customer satisfaction. This man of honor and repute was nicknamed "GASPAR". They said he "Gasps" like a lightening thunder light and meets expectations with no flaws. I still have few of his hand works, though it's painful not to have proper documented records of his handwork's; I believe am the walking living shinning trademark of this beloved person.
His talents was not only limited to only dress making, sewing and designing. He was a bag maker. History as translated that; he was then supplying his hand made and produced bags to the then "Hajj Pilgrims" of Ghana (this is in the mid-1970's to late 1980's) in huge quantities. His products are the toss and struggle of everyone especially the retailers and sellers who were relying solely on it as their means of survival and livelihood. Interestingly, this same man was a farmer. He had a poultry farm which quarterly produces lot of chicken (and eggs) to be used by households and families.
Nonetheless with the dream of establishing a super company and factory. This dream still begs to be achieved and fulfilled to match this great man’s repute. However, this honorable man when traced back had this charismatic traits and characteristics from his Father who with all honesty was indeed a Great blessed personality who defied all odds as a Veteran Soldier in World War 2; Honored Elder, Spiritual Leader, Caring and Loving Husband, and a responsible Father to his over 19 Children's from his lawfully married wives.
The chain of gift and talent in the clothing venture is an endless one. The woman married to my Father is a Seamstress, She was a designer and a Business woman traveling to other African countries to buy fabrics. Ironically she is a quiet, reserved, shy and graceful type. But she was a strong, brave, principled, spiritual, and fighter of what is right advocating Peace in the Community. Though the soft type, but she was clear in mind on what she wants for herself and the wellbeing of her Children's. This honorable woman trained, equipped, and developed her Children's to abide by Divine Laws, Rules and not to out-smart such rules.
AFRICALI in no doubt was decreed to manifest and started long time by these two dear beloved two couples. AFRICALI indeed is a life story which identifies with any individual that; dreams and aspirations of the long past older generations can be translated and made to come to life.
Such a while in the speed to owning and running a clothing brand that will bridge the gap of identifying oneself to clothing in US and the World at large. It is and still is a challenge which 'AFRICALI' is working tirelessly to bring an end to. Such that, every class and walk of life can easily identify itself and be proud to own it and belong to it. The dream and desire transcends the business and lucrative aspects of owning a clothing brand. The desire is deep rooted to values, morals, ideals, virtues, dedication, determination, devotion, selflessness, compassion, believe and the humility to serve Humanity: Service to Humanity; is a service to GOD.
Admittedly; having been born and raised in AFRICA. The continent which has the bounties and endowment of nature in vast abundance. These vast abundant bounties and endowment is normally restricted to only its natural resources like: Gold, Diamond, Bauxite, Oil, Gas, Coal, Arable land, Petroleum, favorable climate and lot of others. It is quite regrettable that; little is mentioned of its Human endowment and acumen to start and own great initiatives such as my "AFRICALI Clothing and Clothing Brand". In line with that; AFRICALI is a business venture breaking and penetrating to the very top and bound to be at the top.
From a humble beginning in Accra, Ghana; with the gifted sense of fashion led me to owning and running a clothing business, Kayswood Unisex Boutique was a great experience to sell clothes and serve my community. To be amongst the best clothing business in Accra; the clothing business demanded traveling to China since Year 2004.
Year 2013 I moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue my dream in owning a Clothing line. When I arrived in Los Angeles, California, Something about California reminded me more about my Hometown, The Palm Trees, The Sunny Weather, The Mexican Food, The Houses, The Diversity, and The Cultural Entertainment seen at "Leimet Park" on Crenshaw Blvd & Vernon. The strip malls, The Churches and The Mosques. As a result it was felt at Home in California, and I instantly decided to stay in California for my new Journey.
